Cable and Wireless Lands More Broadcasting Rights
Flow Sports set to air Pakistan Super League (PSL) T20 and the upcoming ASIA Cup 2016 tournaments.
Cable and Wireless Communications Plc (C&W) continues to demonstrate its commitment to give more to Caribbean sports fans as its consumer brand Flow, announced today that it has been awarded the exclusive broadcast rights for two upcoming global cricket tournaments – The Pakistan Super League (PSL) T20 and the Asia Cup 2016. Flow fans of the explosive cricket format can catch the action on Flow Sports free of charge, when the tournaments air in February and March.
The PSL T20 currently being broadcasted live on Flow Sports is the newest entrant for T20 professional cricket. It is a five team, 24-match competition that features several major international players from around the world, including West Indian stars like Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Darren Sammy, Kevon Coper, Lendl Simmons, Andre Russell, and Samuel Badree. The 2016 tournament will be held between February 4th to the 23rd in both Dubai and Sharjah stadiums. Mr. Muralidharan Srinivasan of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) stated, “Pakistan Super League is a fantastic event, the presence of world's top players will produce quality cricket and the presence of West Indies players will spice up the entire atmosphere. We are pleased to be partnering with Flow Sports for the broadcast in the Caribbean, which will ensure wide distribution of the content in the region.”
Additionally, between February 24th and March 6th, Flow Sports will air the 13th edition of the Asia Cup, which is set to take place in Bangladesh. For the first time in its 13-year history, the tournament will be played in the T20 format, and will feature defending champions Sri Lanka, as well as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and two ICC associate member teams as they compete in the 8-match tournament. Caribbean fans can watch all of the thrilling action on Flow Sports, including a February 27 matchup showcasing one of the greatest cricketing rivalries in the world – India versus Pakistan.
“We know that the passion for cricket is alive and well in the Caribbean, and we wanted to ensure that fans of the sport wouldn’t miss out on these two significant global tournaments,” said John Reid, President of C&W’s Consumer Group. “These tournaments add to our strong cricket line-up, joining Flow Sport’s coverage of the T20 Bangladesh Premier League, the South African Ram Slam T20 tournament as well as coverage of South African and New Zealand home series, helping to make Flow Sports the Home of Cricket in the Caribbean.”
