Paid Parental Leave for EVERYONE at Flow Trinidad

A novel policy led by Liberty Latin America

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (June 12, 2019) –

“Evolving our parental leave policy, quite simply, is the right thing to do!” said Kerry Scott, Chief People Officer, Liberty Latin America, parent company of Cable & Wireless and its consumer brand Flow Trinidad.  “We recognize that diversity drives success, and family dynamics and structures have changed.  Our new policy demonstrates our commitment to a culture of diversity and inclusion and one that puts our people at the heart of our success.”

Dubbed an innovative and progressive policy, employees of Flow Trinidad can now enjoy paid maternity leave of sixteen weeks and paid paternal leave of eight weeks.  The Policy will provide paid leave to employees following the birth of an employee’s child, placement of a child with an employee in connection with adoption or foster care, or birth of a child via gestational surrogacy.

Newly appointed Flow Country Manager, and father of two young boys, Kurleigh Prescod said of the Policy, “I am actually quite excited for all of the mothers who will have Daddy around for eight weeks after birth.”

Other staffers, when asked how they feel about the new parental leave policy said:

“The new Parental Leave Policy is important to both parents and new-borns and is a commendable initiative by the company.  It will give parents time to bond with their new-born and allows mothers the opportunity to get support from the father during a time that can be very trying for them.” – Quincy Roopa

“I am particularly impressed that the Policy will cover those who may become parents via adoption.  This is novel, it is laudable and speaks volumes about a commitment to our quality of life as employees.  Super proud to be part of an organization that so values its people resource.” – Yolande Agard-Simmons

While our employees focus on creating moments that matter to our customers, we want to enable them to enjoy the special moments in their lives as well.  This is what makes us work together as one team and demonstrates our unique culture.

This novel Policy recognizes the importance of giving parents flexibility and time to heal and/or bond with their new child and adjust to their new family situation – all parents (birth, adoptive and foster).
