Annual report 2013/2014
We transformed our business in 2013/14 to focus on the Caribbean and Latin America region and have now set out a new strategic approach designed to accelerate growth.
Cable & Wireless Communications reported decent results for the 2013/14 financial year with EBITDA up 5%. We also announced a new strategy for growth.
Our business takes a strong stand against bribery and corruption in our markets. Our code of conduct and anti-bribery policies are regularly reviewed by our Board and we are a member of Transparency International’s Business Integrity Forum which campaigns against business corruption in over 100 countries.
Delivering mobile data
We are investing across the Caribbean and Latin America to meet growing demand for mobile data. In St. Lucia we were the first operator to offer high speed mobile data services giving our customers access to faster downloads of applications, games and videos.
In the two years since the Bahamas Telecommunications Company was privatised we have significantly improved the customer experience. We have launched mobile data services, made the latest smartphone handsets available, improved pricing, opened a network of retail outlets and have enhanced the performance of our fixed, mobile and broadband networks.
Improving Public Services
Our social telecoms solutions help governments to reduce the cost and improve the efficiency of public services delivery by using telecoms technology. Our work has included installing a number of improvements for hospitals in Panama City.
A proud history
Cable & Wireless Communications has a proud history providing telecommunications services across the globe. Our Group began as a series of telecommunications companies which were founded in Britain in the 1860s.
At the heart of communities
We strive to make a positive impact in the communities in which we operate. In Panama we sponsor the National Oratory Contest, a nationwide public speaking competition for schoolchildren.
What we do
We are a full-service telecoms operator, providing mobile, broadband, fixed line, TV and enterprise services - and keeping our customers connected, wherever they are.
Our businesses operate at the heart of their communities, providing support in line with our four responsibility principles.
