C&W Communications Launches Dominica Relief Support Campaign: Text "Help" to Donate

Cable & Wireless Communications has established a regional relief support campaign for the island of Dominica, following the devastation caused by the passage of Tropical Storm Erika.

Across the Caribbean and the Bahamas, customers can now simply Text the word “HELP” to the following designated number(s) below (depending on the place of origin), to donate funds to the Dominica Relief Initiative: 

  • TEXT 4357 to donate US$1.00 per text message - for all markets across the region except The Bahamas and Jamaica 
  • TEXT 5200 to donate US$1.00  per text message - within The Bahamas 
  • TEXT 444-4357 to donate JM$50 per text message  - within Jamaica 

All proceeds generated from this C&W initiative will be donated to the Government of Dominica Disaster relief efforts.

In a letter to Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerritt, John Reid, President, C&W Consumer Group extended heartfelt sympathies on behalf of the entire Cable & Wireless team across the region, and reaffirmed support for the people of Dominica in the recovery effort.  

In Dominica, the Company also offered $5 free credit to all prepaid customers on the network to facilitate contact with family members and friends.  This was echoed across the Caribbean, where both Flow and LIME teams have initiated other ‘Dominica relief efforts’ to support the storm affected island, including (Insert your individual country activity here).  

Jeffrey Baptiste, General Manager of the Cable & Wireless business in Dominica mobilised resources from Dominica and other markets as soon as the storm abated. Since then, the company’s technicians have been working around the clock to expedite the restoration of full communications service including Mobile, Fixed and Internet.

According to John Reid, “We stand as partners in the recovery process and remain committed to working with the Government of Dominica to restore the island to a state of normalcy within the shortest possible timeframe.”
