Today & Tomorrow

Cable & Wireless Communication’s business in Macau, CTM, has signed a ten-year operating agreement, giving them the chance to develop the services they offer the country.

It was a significant moment for us in November 2009 when our business in Macau, CTM, signed a ten-year operating agreement.

CTM is a joint venture between us (51%), Portugal Telecom (28%), CITIC Pacific (20%) and the Macau SAR Government (1%). The relationships we’ve built with these partners have been important in the venture’s success as a whole.

CTM provides the people of Macau with fixed lined, broadband and mobile services. CTM is the only full service provider in the country. It does have three competitors but just over half the market share is evidence that it’s a favourite with consumers. It also provides turnkey enterprise solutions to corporate customers like the Government, casinos, hotels and financial institutions.

The ten-year agreement shows the confidence that the Government, businesses and people of Macau have in CTM. It also gives us the chance to invest in CTM and the infrastructure of the country.

Over the next ten years, CTM will expand its technological capabilities and provide customers with next generation services. These include high speed internet, faster mobile broadband and high value managed services.
