Above & Beyond

An employee of LIME volunteered to go to Haiti to help out after the earthquake.

We’ve always been keen to build communities, in our business units and beyond, in good times and bad. So when we heard about the Haiti earthquake, we were doubly devastated that a community should face such terrible difficulties.

We’ve been fundraising to help the aid effort. However one of our colleagues has gone above and beyond the call of duty. George Kelly, a LIME Network Maintenance Engineer, flew to Haiti with the International Telecommunications Union team.

The team is working to install 60 satellite phones to ease communications to and from the island. They’re also carrying out a preliminary assessment of the damage done to the country’s telecommunications infrastructure.

LIME Caribbean CEO David Shaw says: “George is a shining example of the spirit of community that runs through the LIME organisation. He stuck up his hand and volunteered to help our neighbours. We are all extremely proud of him.”
