Corporate Responsibility
Behaving in an ethical and socially responsible manner
Cable & Wireless Communications recognises the importance of behaving in an ethical and socially responsible manner when dealing with customers, our colleagues and in the communities in which we live and work.
Telecommunications services, like mobile and broadband, have many positive benefits and are an important enabler for economic and social development. As a result, many of our community-based policies are designed to help bridge the digital divide and improve the level of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) education.
Each of Cable & Wireless Communications' regional operations sets its own corporate responsibility priorities determined by those issues which are most important regionally and with guidance from CWC. In all the regions there is an emphasis on the ability of ICT to transform society and consequently an emphasis on education and the provision of ICT access in schools.
Our corporate social responsibility principles in place since 2007 are to:
- Contribute positively to the social and economic development of the communities where we operate;
- Seek continuous improvement in our environmental performance;
- Respect cultures, values and human rights throughout our operations; and
- Nurture best practice in our activities.
Details on how these principles are borne out in practice can be found in the CSR reports:
