For the first time in its history, the CARIFTA Games 2010 were broadcast live across the Caribbean

For the first time since 1972, the 2010 CARIFTA (Caribbean Free Trade Association) Games were broadcast live across the region this year, thanks to our sponsorship.

Our Caribbean business, LIME, joined forces with the Caribbean Media Corporation and partner television stations to bring the games to the people of the region.

This sponsorship ensured that a large number of people were able to watch their favourite athletes participating in the competition as they competed in the Cayman Islands.

The CARIFTA Games is regarded as one of the best regional junior athletic Championships and is seen as a platform for the Caribbean’s emerging talent. Many Olympic Games champions can trace their athletic careers back to these Games. Previous competitors have included Jamaica’s Usain Bolt , Kim Collins of St Kitts & Nevis, Richard Thompson of Trinidad & Tobago and Obadele Thompson of Barbados.

Chris Dehring, LIME's Chief Marketing Officer, was pleased with how we were able to add value as a sponsor. He commented, "We recognise CARIFTA as one of the most important events on the region's athletics calendar, and the critical role the games play in developing young athletes. Through our sponsorship, the goal was to increase the visibility of the games for maximum exposure across the Caribbean".
